Nothing led you to believe Adam Scott would be in the mix going into the Masters. In the past nine appearances he's made in the tournament, Scott's only recorded one top-10 ... and that was all the way back in 2002, his first time playing in the Masters.
His past struggles at Augusta National rendered him a darkhorse coming into the week to the point that people were glossing over his name when talking about his opening round pairing with Dustin Johnson and Nick Watney.
That may have been the case early in the week, but no more. After Scott's 5-under 67 on Saturday, it's the 30-year-old Aussie who's squarely in the mix.

Like a lot of highly touted youngsters, Scott has never lived up to the early career hype. Even though he has a handful of tour victories around the globe, he's never been able to validate that hype by winning a major championship. For whatever reason, he's never really given himself a chance on Sunday.
But that time has finally come. Using a new long putter that he put in play at Doral -- that helped Scott post his first top-10 of the season -- he's riding the momentum and looking like a guy who's ready to contend for his first major.
If he can keep the hot putter going tomorrow and keep swinging the way he did on Saturday, Scott could capture the biggest title of his career, quiet the doubters, and become the first Aussie to ever win the Masters.�No pressure, Adam.
